Below are some recent examples of our clients' successes:

High-Speed Rail Franchise

We assisted a private sector team in developing a proposal which won them a franchise to build and operate the first dedicated high-speed rail system in the U.S.

Innovative Financial Plan

We helped develop a financial plan for a major transportation project designed to create a potential for federal aid to combine with state and private sector contributions.

National Credit Program

To serve the interests of three clients, we initiated and managed a coalition of public and private sector organizations which lobbied successfully for the creators of a $10 billion national credit program for transportation projects ("TIFIA").

Welfare-to-Work

When the Federal government adopted Welfare Reform in 1996 it failed to allocate funds to assist cities in helping welfare clients make the transition to work. We worked with two of the nation's leading Mayors to advance a program to supply $1.5 billion in federal aid for that purpose. It was approved with bipartisan support. Following this legislative success, we assisted a client in gaining a substantial competitive grant from the program.

Empowerment Zone

We advised a major city in the preparation and advocacy of its successful application to be named one of the first Empowerment Zone cities in the U.S.

Police Funding

In 1994, we worked with our clients to gain enactment of anticrime legislation designed to provide flexibility to cities in spending federal funds. After that we assisted our clients in winning approval of applications for funds from the competitive portion of the program.

Funding Formula Change

One of our clients had argued for years that it was being short-changed in the allocations of federal transportation funds. We reached out to other states in a similar position and helped to coordinate policy development and advocacy strategy for a multi-state coalition. The result was a 52% increase in federal funding for our client.

Multi-Year Funding Agreements

We have assisted three clients in negotiating multi-year contracts for federal support of transit projects. The result was more than $1 billion in investment.

Project Funding

We have helped clients gain earmarks in annual appropriation bills for dozens of special projects. Among them are projects in the following areas:
