Michael Rivera has worked with the High Speed Ground Transportation Association (“HSGTA”) since June of 2001. In his role as director of Operations, he represents the Association before Congressmen and their staff, state and local transportation officials and the U.S. Department of Transportation. He has drafted testimony for the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate. Mr. Rivera’s comments on high-speed rail have appeared in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune, and Roll Call.
In prior career positions, Michael served as Field Director for a Senate campaign in California, a law clerk with Lavery & Cain, LLP, a municipal defense firm with offices throughout Pennsylvania and Ohio, and an intern in the Office of Senator Arlen Specter (R-PA) in Washington, D.C.
He is a member of the District of Columbia Bar. He has a J.D. from Penn State University Law School and a B.A. from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.
