The San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) on June 28 executed a $537.7 million loan from the US Department of Transportation’s TIFIA program to complete the federal support package for the Mid-Coast Light Rail extension. Last year, Mid-Coast received a $1.04 Billion Full Funding Grant Agreement from the Federal Transit Administration.

The Mid-Coast project is a $2.1 billion undertaking that will extend the San Diego Trolley network from Old Town in San Diego to the University Town Center by way of the Veterans’ Administration Hospital, University of California San Diego and other important employment centers.

 

SANDAG has been a Peyser Associates client since 2005 and Peter Peyser advised them throughout the process of applying for the TIFIA loan.
